Release Notes
What's changed on MathGem, in order
MathGem is actively maintained — new worksheet topics, content pages, and fixes ship regularly. Here's a running log of what's changed.
October 2026
- Basic Math worksheets can now be solved on screen: choose Solve online above the worksheet, type your answers and press Check answers. Getting every answer right ends with confetti. Phones open in this mode.
- Basic Math worksheets have a new Min Value setting next to Max Value. Setting both to the same number fixes it, so a page of only the 7 times table is now one setting away.
- Basic Math numbers are now drawn evenly between Min Value and Max Value. Before, the largest values came up less often, so the newest times table in a mixed page was practised less than the others.
- Fixed: on Basic Math worksheets, changing the row spacing could leave answers on the answer sheet for problems that no longer fit on the page. The problems and the answer sheet now always match.
- Fixed: a Min Value or Max Value of 0 is now corrected to the lowest allowed number instead of being ignored.
- Published new guides: homeschool math, how MathGem makes and checks its problems, printing worksheets, step-by-step practice orders for the times tables and for fractions, a skills check to do before starting equations, and common algebra mistakes and where they come from. The guide list now shows the newest guide first.
- Each level overview page now explains that level's own settings, answer formats and page layout.
- The Basic Math and Basic Math 2 topic pages have a new section suggesting an order for working through the settings, from the simplest problems to the hardest.
- On phones and narrow windows, the level tabs at the top now open from a menu button.
September 2026
- Added a page for every topic (26 in all) with an explanation, worked examples, common mistakes and sample problems, next to the worksheet generator. Topics now have their own addresses, such as /algebra/solving-equations/; old links still work and redirect.
- Added an overview page for each level with its grade range and a recommended order of topics.
- Added practice guides for parents and teachers, starting with a grade-by-grade practice roadmap.
- Added Contact and Terms of Use pages, updated the About page and Privacy Policy, and unified the site footer.
- Worked examples and generated problems for every topic are now checked automatically before each update.
- Fixed worksheet generators: subtraction no longer gives negative answers unless negative numbers are switched on; division remainders are correct for negative numbers; out-of-range Max Value entries no longer freeze the page; fractions like "3/1" print as whole numbers; systems of equations always have one solution; factoring answers are fully factored; radical and conic problems print consistently; integer, ratio and decimal problems now match their settings.
