Basic Math 2 Worksheets

Three printable worksheet generators for grades 4–6, each with an answer key.

Grades 4–6

What Basic Math 2 covers

Basic Math 2 moves beyond whole numbers to the three ways of writing parts of a whole: fractions, decimals and percentages. They describe the same idea in different forms (14\tfrac{1}{4}, 0.25 and 25% are the same amount), and fluency with all three is needed for ratios, algebra and everyday maths such as prices and discounts.

These topics are usually taught in grades 4–6, and the exact grade depends on the school and the province or state. Each worksheet is generated fresh every time, with settings for the operation and the size of the numbers.

Basic Math 2 topics

Recommended order

  1. Fractions — the foundation for the other two.
  2. Decimals — fractions with denominators of 10 and 100, written with a decimal point.
  3. Percentages — parts per hundred, using both fractions and decimals.

Within Fractions and Decimals, addition and subtraction usually come before multiplication and division. After this level, Pre-Algebra continues with integers, order of operations and ratios.

What you can set for each topic

  • Fractions: the operation, the largest denominator (6 or 12) and whether to use mixed numbers.
  • Decimals: the operation and one or two decimal places.
  • Percentages: which of the three numbers is missing — the part, the percent or the whole.

Each page holds 20 problems. Next to every worksheet, coloured tabs open four printable one-page lessons for the topic (Key Concept, Investigate, Problem Solving Process and Basic Exercise), which work well as an introduction before the first worksheet.
